The 2010 competition kicks off November 1, 2009, and Registration Forms will be accepted as late as June 10, 2010. Completed art entries and Submission Forms should be postmarked by June 30, 2010.
So why not enter?
Don't worry; you don't have to be a "pro" to participate. While it is a competition and finalists are awarded prizes — the prizes are donated to the cancer charities of the winners' choice, so people of all artistic skill levels are encouraged to enter.
Themes and Inspirations
Themes and inspirations for your choice of subject are everywhere: a friend, sunlight or your loyal, loving pet. Picasso once said, "I do not seek but I find." This is your opportunity to share your experience as an inspiration to others on a similar journey.
Awards
A panel of judges selects winners. Prizes are donated to the winners' cancer charities of choice. For the 2008 competition, prizes were awarded as follows:
Overall Best of Exhibition Winners
1st-prize winner = $10,000 donation
2nd-prize winner = $5,000 donation
3rd-prize winner = $2,500 donation
Best of Participant Category Winners
$1,000 donation each
Best of Participant Category in Each Art Medium
$1,000 donation each
Charity organizations selected to receive monetary contributions must be classified as 501(c)3 tax-exempt, non-profit organizations and a significant portion of their mission must be cancer-related. These prizes are non-exchangeable and non-transferable. The competition and prizes are subject to U.S. law and regulations, which may prevent individuals (e.g., healthcare practitioners and government officials) from accepting the awards/benefits/acknowledgements of this program.
