Nearly twelve million cancer survivors alive today in the U.S. alone1 heard the words, "You have cancer."
But these words not only affect them - both physically and emotionally - but, also, everyone around them.
Helping patients and those who love and care for them cope with the emotional side of the disease was the motivation behind Lilly Oncology's creation, in 2004, of the Oncology On CanvasSM: Expressions of a Cancer Journey Art Competition and Exhibition.
The competition presenters - Lilly Oncology and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) - invite residents of the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, who have been touched by cancer - patients, family members, friends, caregivers and healthcare providers - to express, through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journeys meaning.
To date, more than 3,600 individuals have participated in the competition. Now, it's your turn to share your story - and you don't have to be a professional artist or writer to do it. It's the sharing of the story that counts.
We look forward to receiving your entry and wish you good luck!
